Russell County was crowned state champions Monday night after sweeping through four games in the 14-year-old Babe Ruth East Kentucky state tournament in Lexington.

The Russell County 14-year-old Babe Ruth team defeated Highview of Louisville, 9-5, on Monday night to capture the state tournament title for that age division. Russell County went through the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. The team is coached by Richard Bennett, David Aaron and Josh Popplewell.
